Quatrain of When You Were

When You Were - a long time ago

When you look out upon the
landscape, what you see
is referenced by what
you've seen
before,

It is impossible to see a brand
new world, you bring to it
what you have learned,
in days of
yore.

If you wish to find a brand new
thought, or a first edition
of an idea - or see an
example of a
world totally
unknown,

You must look upon the landscape,
bring no memories of what
you've learned; use the
blank slate God gave
you, before you
were grown.
