Quatrain of No Friend

No Friend - they are hard to find

Beware the man right next to you,
he may look non-invasive, an
empirical threat to no
one,

The world doesn't create devils, it
lets the worst among us have
access to evil we should
shun.

We live in vain, hoping to change
human nature, praying our efforts
will pay off as moral
dividends,

Alas, there is no evidence anywhere,
to cause us to believe strangers
will always become our
friends.
