Mother's Teachings - I should have learned

I have spent a lifetime learning,
what I should have learned,
from my mother
when I was a
child.

She tried so hard to teach me
good judgment and divine
morals, to keep me
from being
wild.

It wasn't my mother who failed,
it was my inability to learn
the best ways to
make my life
complete,

I have spent a lifetime getting
to know, what my mom
knew, and how not
to be a classical
deadbeat.
