Quatrain of Filbert Anger


Filbert - any of about 15 species of shrubs
or trees - also called hazel



I saw a shadow on the wall
coming after me, my fright
turned to anger, I
did not
flee,

I quickly grew bizarre roots
of hardened madness
and stood with the
strength of a
tree.

I was not going to run, I
would stand firm and
fight life's spiritual
defiler with eyes
ablaze,

I would slay thy provident
dragon with relished rage,
like a filbert nut in an
emotional
craze.
