Not Knowing - what is in front

I have seen the side of darkness
with a flashlight that
was so
dim,

I stared into eternity with eyes
that caused the
future to grow
grim.

If the batteries of life go dead,
there will be nothing
that I will clearly
see,

There is only one thing worse than
darkness, it is not knowing
what's in front of
me.
