Quatrain of My Essence

My essence - do I have one

I have searched for my essence
since I was a child,
never easing
up at
all,

I had hoped to go through life
with a true purpose,
without letting
my spirt
fall.

But as the years pass my soul
remains an empty vessel;
I've fallen short
in my
quest,

I have decided, rather than worry
about my meaning, I'll
spend my time on
earth as a
guest.
