Quatrain of Looking Ahead

Looking ahead - I did

When I looked ahead and saw
life coming straight toward
me I didn't know whether
to hide or
confront,

I knew it wouldn't be easy but I
didn't want to miss the thrill
of being alive and not
having to
punt.

So I took on the challenges that
come with living and did my
best to beat the
odds of finding
happiness,

I could have simply ducked, but
when given just one chance,
I had to give it
all my mental
scrappiness.
