Holding Steadfast - the Devil

There are times I feel I am
being punished for
sins committed
long
ago,

Perhaps I deserve to be
persecuted, but it truly
is for sins I
do not
know.

I have tried to make amends
for pain I realize I
have caused
in years
past,

It seems no matter how often
I say I am sorry, the Devil
continues to hold
steadfast.
