What has caused America to
become so divided, is it
because it freed the
slaves?

Do we carry around a chain of
indignation and wind up
filling, "give me"
graves?

Or do we harbor deep seated
hate that is impossible to
let go, for heaven's
sake?

It would be a tragedy to see
us fight a war to bring
slavery back, O, my
heart doth ache!
