Quatrain of Facing Yourself

Facing Yourself  - not easy

Your face doesn't look like you've
seen a ghost, but it does look
as though you have
privately seen
yourself.

It must be a cruel trick, to look
at your reflection, knowing you
are active in the world
and not parked on a
shelf.

The next time you catch a glimpse
of what others see, you'd better
hope it is a picture
the world will
adore,

It is better to have the look of love,
than to go through life as if
you just had your lionized
snout slammed in a
door.
